Milne's Well Matured Specially Selected Whisky 1940's Bottling

An exceptionally special bottling of Milne's Well Matured whisky. This was bottled in the 1940's just before Gilbey's merchants would acquired Milne as a company in 1946. A bygone era of Australian whisky, Milne & Co are a huge part of Australia's rich distilling history. Originally founded in 1845, they acted as official imports for various wines & whisky throughout the 19th century. They would also begin producing their own range of distilled spirits including gin, brandy and whisky. A highly successful business, they acquired the Thebarton distillery in 1897. These pre Gilbey's acquired Milne bottles likely contain a substantial amount of malt whisky produced at the South Australian Thebarton distillery along with grain whisky produced either domestically or imported from scotland. A beautiful time capsule of Australian distilling history and sure to be an incredible bottle.
