Gentleman Jack (1750ml)

A fan favourite expression of Jack Daniel's, this release is mellowed a second time through maple sugar charcoal and is known for an even more smooth style of Tennessee whisky.

Jack DanielÕs

One of the biggest selling whiskey brands in the world, Jack DanielÕs is a household name across the globe. Originally registered in 1866 and reportedly the first legal distillery in the US, Jasper DanielÕs himself was the original master distiller after learning his craft from Nathan Nearest, an African-American distiller. Jack would pioneer the ÒLincoln county processÓ, a method whereby their whiskey is mellowed through sugar maple charcoal before entering the barrel. The process filters some of the harsher esters and volatile compounds found in the new make spirit. Jack would create his icon ÒOld No 7 BrandÓ that has gone on to define American whiskey. The Jack DanielÕs name struggled through early prohibition, finding that Tennessee was no longer a viable place to make whiskey and so briefly moved to Missouri and Alabama. No whiskey from these sites were ever released due to quality concerns and after a number of decades of waiting, Tennessee once again allowed whiskey production in 1938. After moving back to the Lynchburg distillery, Jack DanielÕs would once again close from 1942-1946 due to a government ban on whiskey production due to world war 2.

The modern story of the brand sees Jack DanielÕs purchased by Brown-Forman in 1956. The ownerÕs of the Old Forester and one of only 6 producers in the US to be granted a whisky making licence for medicinal purposes. Throughout the last 75 years Brown-Forman has grown Jack DanielÕs to be a pop culture icon, and it was notoriously the famous drink for celebrities like Frank Sinatra. It is even claimed that Sinatra was buried with a bottle of Jack DanielÕs. In more recent years the brand has seen a considerable amount of innovation, with more product lines being introduced such as their single barrel, barrel proof offerings and more ventures into Tennessee rye. In a market that is seeing record demand, Jack DanielÕs is still keeping up the pace and has even recently introduced limited age stated bottlings such as its recent Jack DanielÕs 10 Year Old.
